Home Rewiring Specialists
Safe, modern wiring for older homes. We replace knob and tube, cloth-wrapped wiring, and outdated electrical systems throughout Bucks County and Montgomery County.
Knob & Tube Rewiring
Knob and tube wiring was standard in homes built before the 1950s. It worked fine for a few lights and a radio, but it was never designed for air conditioning, kitchen appliances, computers, and everything else modern families rely on. The insulation cracks and falls off over time, leaving bare copper wire sitting against wood framing - a real fire hazard. Most insurance companies won't cover a home with active knob and tube, or they'll charge a steep premium.
We've rewired dozens of older homes across Bucks County and Montgomery County. We know how to work through walls and ceilings with minimal damage, and we coordinate with inspectors to make sure everything passes. When we're done, your home's wiring is modern, safe, and up to code.
- Full knob and tube removal and replacement
- Partial rewires for active K&T circuits
- Insurance compliance rewiring
- Attic and basement K&T remediation
- Grounded outlet installation throughout
- Arc-fault (AFCI) protection on all bedroom circuits
Cloth-Wrapped & Aging Wire Replacement
Homes built in the 1950s and 1960s often have cloth-wrapped wiring (also called fabric-sheathed or rubber-insulated wire). While newer than knob and tube, this wiring has its own problems. The rubber insulation dries out and crumbles, the cloth sheathing deteriorates, and the connections at outlets and switches become loose and corroded. Aluminum wiring from the late 1960s and 1970s is another concern - it expands and contracts differently than copper, causing loose connections and fire risk at outlets and switches.
We replace all types of aging residential wiring with modern NM-B (Romex) cable, bringing your home up to current NEC code standards.
- Cloth-wrapped wire replacement
- Rubber-insulated wire upgrades
- Aluminum wiring remediation (pigtailing or full replacement)
- Two-prong to three-prong outlet upgrades
- Dedicated circuits for modern appliances
- Whole-home grounding system installation
Full House Rewire
Sometimes the most practical solution is a complete rewire. If your home has multiple types of aging wiring, an undersized panel, and not enough circuits, a full rewire gives you a clean slate. We replace all the wiring, upgrade your panel to 200 amps, install proper grounding, and add enough circuits to handle your family's needs - now and in the future.
A full rewire is also the right time to add dedicated circuits for your kitchen, laundry, home office, and workshop. We'll plan the layout with you so everything ends up exactly where you need it.
- Complete removal of old wiring
- 200-amp panel upgrade included
- Modern NM-B (Romex) wiring throughout
- Dedicated 20A kitchen and laundry circuits
- Home office and workshop circuits
- Smoke and CO detector wiring
- Whole-home surge protection
- All permits and inspections handled
